Essendon defender Jordan Ridley has been traded to Geelong, with the deal finalised on 7 October 2026. The trade sends utility Jack Bowes to Essendon along with four draft picks.

Ridley had been strongly connected to the Cats after Essendon placed a strong asking price on the defender. Essendon were unwilling to let him go cheaply throughout the trade period.

The completed swap gives Geelong an seasoned backline option while Essendon picks up Bowes and additional selections. Bowes is capable across multiple positions who bolsters the Essendon list heading into the pre-season period.
